A bit of a longer opinion/commentary read as the second Freedom of Information (FOI) request we release this weekend deals with the recent decision to actively enforce the rules surrounding encroachment on City-owned land.

With income received from dumping demolition debris from the former Union Hospital at $36,384.80 a council member said the City has missed the opportunity of a significant revenue source.

The shrinking capacity at the Moose Jaw landfill was the reason the majority of the debris from the former Moose Jaw Union Hospital was hauled to the City yards and not the landfill documents obtained by an FOI show.

The three member commitee reviewing Council’s pay and benefits wants to hear your opinions on the matter. Either in person or a written submission on January 22rd or on-line until January 28th.

It is something our readers asked us to ask the federal political candidates in the 2019 election and now the Province of Saskatchewan has launched a campaign asking people to set up licensed home-based child care facilities.

Council was presented with an update of the strategic plan and asked to vote to include a document from the provincial government they have not read nor reviewed.

Councillor Crystal Froese has volunteered to sit on the City’s Cultural Diversity Advisory Committee after no other member of Council wanted the job.

It flooded some basements over a large area and now the City has found the problem and is preparing to make repairs in frigid temperature conditions.
