Election is Tomorrow. Prepare Yourselves Accordingly

With what could be seen as an expected lower voter turnout at the advance polls, here are a few things to remember for October 17th Byelection Day. Polls open at 9 AM and close at 8 PM.

There are four polling places available:

1. Kinsmen Sportsplex

2. Royal Canadian Legion

3. Town and Country Mall

4. Church of our Lady

The voting areas for each polling station are available on the City of Moose Jaw website.

Although the City would like residents to vote in their respective areas, you may request the poll clerk to fill out a form to transfer your vote to a different poll if you accidentally end up at the wrong poll.

On Saturday 154 people cast ballots and on Monday 90 people cast ballots. The total number of advance ballots cast was 440.

In brief interviews with MJ Independent at least three who voted in Saturday’s mobile advance polls said “I just guessed who to vote for”, “I flipped a coin and decided” and “I thought about spoiling my ballot but simply voted the best one I thought.”

It also needs to be noted if you did not vote in any of the advance or special polls in your building you are still eligible to vote at a regular polling station.

The four candidates contending for the councillor position are Mike Bachiu, Doug Blanc, Heather Eby and Steven White. The councillor position being contended for became available with the resignation of Don Mitchell who resigned to care for his ailing wife.

For anyone still undecided here are detailed profiles on each candidate:
