Tristan Langan Massive Against Broncos

Nick Murray

The last time the Swift Current Broncos were at Mosaic Place they eliminated the all-time greatest Moose Jaw Warriors squad from the WHL playoffs. Both clubs look quite a but different now and nobody on earth is wagering on a Broncos repeat, especially considering they came into the contest 0-5 but they were back nonetheless.

Moose Jaw opted to start Adam Evanoff over Brodan Salmond. Salmond was 2-0 coming into the match and had been pivotal in back-to-back wins over Regina and Brandon.

The first period ended 2-1, but it could have been a lot worse for the Broncos; it was all Moose Jaw. They pounded away at Bronc goalie Joel Hofer, for 20 shots. Brecon Wood got his first of the season early on, assists came from young defender Daemon Hunt and Jesse Mistelbacher.

Swift evened things up in the 18th minute thanks to Alec Zawatsky but only a minute later Ryan Peckford and Justin Almeida set up Tristan Langan to regain the lead.

Mid way through period two, with Moose Jaw on the power player, Langan re-directed an Almeida wrister for his second of the game.

Langan completed the Hat-Trick 13 seconds into the third, Almeida and Brook had the helpers on that one.

Connor Horning cut the lead down to two thanks to a Brecon Wood cross-checking penalty. It was now 4-2.

Ryan Peckford scored shortly after to bring the lead back to three. Langan had an assist on that one too for his fourth point of the night.

Swift Current got two back late in the third, one from Ethan Regnier and one from Max Patterson, but that would be as close as they got.

The Warriors win 5-4. That’s three straight victories.

Langan’s Hat-Trick no doubt earned him the game’s first star. The other two were Almeida and Peckford.

They’re in Brandon for a game on Friday night and then back in Moose Jaw to host the Spokane Chiefs on Saturday
