Central Cyclones Fall 27 - 7 To Weyburn Eagles

The only still undefeated local high school football squad, the Central Cyclones, fell 27 - 7 versus the powerhouse Weyburn Eagles Saturday afternoon in South 5A 12-Man Football League 2022 season at Moose Jaw’s Gutheridge Field.

The Cyclones split their 302 yard in offense gains almost equally between passing and rushing the ball. The Central Collegiate squad ran the ball 34 times for a collective 150 yards and threw the ball for 152 yards.

Central’s Javin Boynton carried the ball 23 times managing to run 113 yards or 4.9 yards per carry.

Pass wise the Cyclones were able to move the ball 152 yards on 14 pass completions in 28 attempts.

Carter Hulgan scored the lone Cyclones touchdown on a six yard passing play.

At the visiting end of the field the Eagles mustered 384 yards in offense.

The Eagles offense was largely a ground game with the Weyburn team managing 326 yards on 24 times carrying the ball. In passing Weyburn managed 58 yards on five completions on 11 attempts.

Weyburn’s quarterback Conner Kerr carried the ball six times and managed to rush for 115 yards.

Eagles scoring was Conner Kerr with two touchdowns and Carter Bell and Owen Istace with a touchdown each. Carter Houghten would make three out of four conversion attempts.

The loss gives the Central Cyclones a 2 - 1 season record the same record as the Peacock Tornadoes (2 - 1) and the Vanier Vikings have an 0 - 3 record at the halfway point of the regular season.
