Exhibition Posts Healthy 2023 In Attracting Events

It was a good year event wise in 2023 for the Moose Jaw Exhibition Company Inc.

At Tuesday evening’s AGM, when reading the audited financial statement, attendees were told by auditor Derek Owens that the Exhibition had an increase in direct event revenues in 2023 versus 2022.

The direct event revenues in 2023 were $345,832 versus $303,954. An increase of $41,878.

General manager George Fowler said the reason for direct event revenues was not due to inflation but rather an increase in the number of events held at the Exhibition.

“We had a very good year in the horse rental portion of the business,” Fowler told MJ Independent.

Later in his annual report Fowler said “we’ve had a steady year with a lot of horse shows.”

The numbers are especially good as the Exhibition did not have major increases in rates because of inflation to use the facilities but rather achieved it by more events.

The Exhibition Convention Centre also had strong bookings in 2023, he said.

At the present time Moose Jaw has the largest and arguably the best equine facility in Saskatchewan.

The Moose Jaw Exhibition Company Limited is a major economic driver for Moose Jaw generating millions of dollars of activity in the local economy.
