City Says Fire Sprinkler Incident Still Under Investigation

The City has released more information regarding the second incident where a fire sprinkler head was hit causing flooding at the Kinsmen SportsPlex.

“At this point the City is currently still investigating the second incident and that is our priority. Once the investigation is complete the Parks and Recreation Department will decide what actions need to be taken to ensure this incident doesn’t happen again or if it were to happen how the City could cover the costs given that prior to this year it was a nonissue,” the City released.

The replacing of sprinkler heads is one option and was used to demonstrate the high cost the repairs could be.

“The option of replacing the protective cages on our sprinkler heads that was mentioned by Director Blais, costing roughly $30,000 to $50,000, was just one of many options and was meant to show what a high-cost option would be,” the City responded to questions in the post Council media scrum on Wednesday.
