Police Chief Officially Receives His New Badge

On Friday, October 3, 2025, Moose Jaw Chief of Police, Robert Davis, was presented with his official Moose Jaw Police Service badge at a ceremony at Temple Gardens Centre.
Chief Davis was joined at the ceremony by his wife and two children, along with law enforcement members from Saskatchewan and previous colleagues from Alberta and Ontario.
“I am honoured to be presented with my Moose Jaw Police Service badge here today,” said Chief Davis.
“Although this badge comes with immense responsibility, it signifies my commitment to building a safer and stronger Moose Jaw for all. Since my first day in Moose Jaw, I’ve been inspired by the city’s civic pride, community spirit, and shared vision for continued growth and progress. I will do my very best to continue that.”
Davis was officially sworn in and assumed his duties as Chief on August 29, 2025, following an extensive national search and thorough vetting process. Since then, he has been completing his provincial qualifications and settling into his new role. Davis replaces outgoing Police Chief Rick Bourassa, who retired on February 1, 2025.
Jamey Logan, Vice Chair of the Moose Jaw Board of Police Commissioners, presented Chief Davis with his badge and welcomed him to Moose Jaw.

“The appointment of a new chief is one of the most important responsibilities of the Board of Police Commissioners,” said Commissioner Logan.
“Through a rigorous national search earlier this year, one candidate stood out above the rest. That was Chief Robert Davis.”
“The Moose Jaw Board of Police Commissioners looks forward to working alongside you as we support the dedicated members of the Service and continue building a safe, vibrant Moose Jaw for all,” added Commissioner Logan.
Chief Davis brings over 34 years of law enforcement experience, most recently serving as Chief of Police in the City of Brantford, Ontario. With 14 years of experience as a police chief and leadership roles in both Western and Eastern Canada, Chief Davis is recognized for a deep commitment to community engagement, listening to concerns, identifying challenges, upholding ethics, and accountability within the police service, and working collaboratively to build safer communities for all.
Saskatchewan Association of Chiefs of Police (SACP), President, Chief Patrick Nogier of the Prince Albert Police Service, was on hand to bring remarks. He mentioned that he is looking forward to working alongside Chief Davis in the future on provincial policing matters.
“On behalf of the Saskatchewan Association of Chiefs of Police, I congratulate Chief Robert Davis on his installation as Chief of Police for the Moose Jaw Police Service”, noted Chief Nogier.” Chief Davis brings valuable perspectives from his policing experience in Alberta and Ontario, and we welcome the contributions he will make as part of Saskatchewan’s policing community.
