If practice is the art of profession then the Central Cyclones are on the verge of perfection.

What with 50 practices running for two hours each the Cyclones know what it’s like to try and try again.

On Tuesday afternoon (the time these photos were taken) the Cyclones were out on the practice field putting their final touches for this Saturday afternoon’s 5A 12-A-Side Football provincial championship game.

The Cyclones earned the berth to the provincial final by defeating PA Carleton 31 - 24 in last Saturday’s semi-final in Prince Albert.

“I’m very proud of the kids. They put a lot of work in. You know they put in a lot of work since August. You know 50 plus practices. These kids have worked their butts off and they know we have one week left and take nothing for granted,” Cyclones head coach Colin Belsher said about the team’s preparedness.

The preparers also includes watching a lot of film from Regina Johnson to prepare the team for the final game this Saturday.

“We exchange film with them… so they got all our game film and we got all theirs… it doesn’t matter sitting down and seeing what will work for us against them,” Belsher said.

Regina Johnson will be doing the same with the film and looking at how they can handle the Cyclones.

Belsher said the Cyclones secret to success has been the strong play of the seniors core combined with younger players stepping up.

“When you mix those two together, you tend to have success.”

Practice is open to all players as it helps this year as well into the next.

“In practice, we try to get everybody involved. Some of the kids are putting in the work this week and knowing the odds of them getting on the field are very slim,” he said.

“They just love being around each other and the camaraderie out there… they work just as hard as our starters.”

Asked if the players were on the field and not starters might see the opportunity to play. Belsher said it’s quite hot possible if there was an injury.

Having practises with everybody out in the field allows the team to develop depth, and if need be, they will have more people to put out into the game if there happened to be an injury.

At the present time, the game is being promoted within the school through social media and other activities in hopes of getting more students out.

With the weather forecast being - 5C at the time of publication Belsher said the concession will have lots of hot dogs, hamburgers and hot chocolate available.
