U15A Moose Jaw Mavericks Advance To Second Round

The U15A Moose Jaw Carpet One Mavericks are off to the second round in the Saskatchewan Female Hockey League (SFHL) playoffs after defeating the Regina Rebels White 7 - 1 on Saturday evening.

The Mavericks won the first two games in the best of three playoff against the Rebels White.

The score in game one was a 3 - 0 shutout for the Mavericks.

In Game Two the Mavericks scored six goals before the Rebels White scored to prevent a second straight shutout loss.

The First Period saw the Mavericks score four unanswered goals.

Willow Scott opened the scoring at 13:54. The assists went to Kaylee Duzan and Madeline Hopkinson.

The Mavericks second goal was unassisted scored by Taylor Hawkins at 9:34.

Moose Jaw’s third goal was scored by Hopkinson at 3:53. The assist went to Scott and Duzan.

The final goal of the period was scored unassisted by Sophia Page at 2:21.

The Second Period saw the Mavericks continue to pad their lead on a goal by Jaden Costley at 18:19.

The goal was assisted by Kenzie Hazell.

Evelyn Stokes scored Moose Jaw’s sixth goal of the game at 6:09. Ella Campbell recorded the assist.

Regina’s Avery Fidelack scored an unassisted marker at 6:01 ruining the Maverick’s shutout.

The Third Period saw the Mavericks Taya Babich score at 6:03. The goal was assisted by Duzan.

Duzan had three assists on the evening.

The win by the Mavericks eliminated the Revels White from the playoffs.

The Mavericks face off in Game One against the Regina Rebels Gold tonight at 8 pm at the Kinsmen Arena.

Game Two of the best of three series goes at Regina Co-operators Arena at 7:15 pm.

Game Three, if necessary. will be played Sunday March 9th at 1:30 pm at the Red Knight Arena.
