The City proposes to apply tax liens on the affected properties.
Councillor Dawn Luhning said she noticed some of the back taxes owing and they were pretty high.
Fraser said the reason why was a new computer program for tax assessment meaning property taxes were not enforced since 2022.
Councillor Chris Warren asked what would the next step be if property owners did not make payments or arrangements to pay the outstanding balance.
After a waiting period the City would apply for a title from Province Mediation Board to receive consent to take title. After that, the City would see if they wanted to take title of the property, Fraser said.
Councillor Heather Evie made a motion to proceed with the tax liens, but also at the same time make it so property owners can work out repayment plans with the City.
Council vote in favour to pursue back taxes owing from 67 properties in 2022 and carriage forward up to 2024.
