City Opposed To Proposed Truck Wash

By Robert Thomas

The City of Moose Jaw may not have shown up to the public hearing for a proposed discretionary use cattle wash station but they were firmly opposed to the proposed project.

In a two page letter obtained by MJ Independent dated May 5th from the City to the RM the City gave six reasons for their opposition to the proposed development.

The first reason the City opposed the proposed project was water.

The City states they are in the process of determining finding the ownership of the line.

Additionally the City would require an engineering study to access the water line.

In the end the Caron/Mortlach utility board as well as the City would have to agree to provide water.

The City also opposed the proposed truck wash for sanitary reasons and where the manure would go.

The City also opposed the proposed project in case of storms questioning how the RM would police the manure running over.

Transportation and protection of roads was a concern with the City stating the development would have to sign a road use guarantee.

Air quality and smell were concerns raised by residents to the City,

In the end the RM of Moose Jaw denied the developer’s permission for the project.
