Questions Asked About Seasonal Work

Councillor Patrick Boyle asked a couple of questions about when the City’s seasonal road work is set to get underway.

Street Sweeping

He asked about when street sweeping would get underway.

Director of Operations Bevan Harlton said it was a few weeks away until street sweepers would be cleaning up after the winter.

Street sweeping would start in mid April with the meridians and then branch out into the higher traffic areas first.

At the present time the street sweepers are being worked on for the annual job.

Hot Mix and Potholes

The warmer weather this year could play a major role in opening the annual patch jobs

Hot mix availability from the contractor is slated for the end of April but due to the warm weather it could be available earlier this year Harlton said.

City crews have been busy so far this spring using recycled asphalt in a machine that heats it.

Harlton said the equipment has allowed crews to put down 10 tonnes in 20 locations.
