15U AAA Canucks Pull Off Determined Win (Copy)
Solid defence with few lapses and some strong aggressive base running saw the Moose Jaw 15U AAA squeeze by the Regina White Sox 4 - 3 on Tuesday evening.
A game the young rookie squad was focused on to win.
The game saw Canuck’s’ leadoff hitter Taylor Usher score in the first inning in an omen of how things were to come.

“We did good today. I think we had a positive mind set into the game,” layer Taylor Usher said.
“There was a lot of good things happening. Some good smart plays.”
He said it wasn’t the team’s best game of the season but it was one of their better ones.
“We had a good game. We had a good game on the sticks and defence. We didn’t make many errors. We had good contact hits,” Usher said.

Usher gave the hitting seven out of 10.
“Our top (part of the batting order) were hitting pretty good but we had our bottom (part of the order) coming in clutch with a few hits there. It’s what we really need right now,” he said.
The consistent hitting is what the Canucks have been striving for as they prepare for provincials at the end of the month.

The Canucks scored two of their four runs largely as a result of aggressive base running.
“We like to be aggressive on the base paths so we can score a few more runs. We lose a lot of games to series so we want to get as much as we can,” Usher said.
Defensively he said the Canucks played strong with one or two errors.
“Nothing hurt us too much.”

He said pitching was good with starter Lucas Lind and closer Tucker Knoop keeping the White Sox at bay.
Defensively the pitching saw the White Sox end the inning stranding runners more than once on second and third bases.

The Canucks next game is Wednesday July 22 at 6 pm versus the White Butte Broncos at Blackwell Diamond.
