Caribou Trots Through Game
“I’ve seen rabbits on the field but never a cat,” one of the coaches for the Yorkton Raiders said as Caribou the cat casually strode across Elks’ Field.
The remark may have drawn snickers from the bench but unfortunately it didn’t speed Caribou across the field.
Even offering to carry the frolicking feline was rejected so it was a case of waiting out the cat.
Caribou made a similar stop last season resulting in a stoppage of play.
Central Cyclones’ head coach Colin Belsher called the incident “cute” when asked about it.
The Kinsmen Moose Jaw Minor Football Association works its season around - including stoppage of play - so as to accommodate Caribou’s visits as safely as possible.
According to some the cat is simply drawn to the field by the lights and noise.
Caribou is the shop cat owned by the Moose Jaw and District Co-op Agro Centre and is named after the street.
