15U AAA Canucks Capture Provincial Tier Two Title

Sunday may have been a hot day temperature wise but it was also a hot day for the Moose Jaw 15U AAA Canucks defeated the Swift Current 57s 6 - 2 victory over the Swift Current 57s to claim the Tier Two provincial championship.

Powered by 16 strikeouts by starting pitcher Lucas Lind the Canucks managed to grab a 3 - 2 lead after the first inning.

It was a lead the 57s could not overcome.

Lind would give up two hits and two runs over five innings pitching. One of the runs was a home run by Luke Mitchell.

Pitching for Swift Current Mitchell would hurl for five innings giving up six runs on seven hits.

Moose Jaw bat catcher Jordan Scory would get one hit in the game which resulted in two RBIs.

Moose Jaw - whose regular season was an up and down affair - had been peaking as the regular season ended.

In Game One of the round robin tournament the Canucks would wait until the sixth inning to score seven runs to defeat the Regina Wolfpack 9 - 3.

Taylor Usher would pitch six and one third innings for Moose Jaw striking out nine and walking two. Usher would also give up four hits and two runs.

Usher along with Tucker Knoop would each have two hits.

Game Two saw the Canucks defeat the Regina Athletics 11 - 1 after scoring six runs in the first inning.

Evan Audette stepped on the mound for the Canucks giving up zero hits and one run over three and one-third innings.

Batting from the number seven spot in the lineup Quinton Vanbocquestal had three runs batted in for Moose Jaw.

Game Three saw the Canucks defeat the Swift Current 57s 20 - 1.

The Canucks would score nine runs in the top of the first inning the 57s could not recover from.

In the top of the fourth Moose Jaw would add an additional eight runs on six innings.

Zane Anderson earned the win for the Canucks pitching five innings. Anderson gave up four hits and one run while striking out one.

Game Four, the semi-final, saw the Canucks defeat the Regina Athletics 14 - 13 in a seventh inning walk off.

The win advanced the Canucks to the provincial final.

The game was tied 13 - 13 heading into the bottom of the seventh lining when Tucker Knoop scored the victory run.

Moose Jaw had 17 hits and Regina had 12 hits in the high scoring affair.
