Grand Opening For Local Artisans This Saturday

To meet the need of people wanting to buy goods, manufactured by local artisans and local artisans who want to access retail customers a local store has diversified into local artisans sales.

4 Plants Indoor Gardening Supplies - 123 High Street West - is set to celebrate the arrival of the artisans this Saturday with a grand opening from 11 am - 2 pm.

The grand opening is an informal open house where people can visit the shop and meet many of the local artisans Nyle Cockwill with 4 Plants said.

“Everything (near the front of the store) represents about 15 different people,” Cockwill said. “They are local artisans.”

One person who farms locally will be selling eggs, as well as jellies through the store is one example of local producers being able to access customer at a retail level, he said.

The types of things being sold are across vast spectrum of goods.

“Another lady does freeze dried vegetables and fruit.”

While another artisan will offer essential oils and reiki products and candles.

There’s also an artisan who designs and manufactures outdoor lighting for around your home and garden.

“It’s a wide variety and spectrum of locally created and manufactured goods that are going to be available, he said.

For 4 Plants it is a win-win situation where are they make some money off of sales of local artist created good will the artisans have access to a retail outlet.

Many of the artisans know sell their products over Facebook or online or they also go to local trade shows.

“It’s all local people who don’t have really any access to retail,” he said.

“This gives the local artisans Monday - Saturday access to customers they may not be able to reach,” Cockwill said.

“It’s kind of a all year round trade show,”

This Saturday there will be a grand opening event at the store, where they will be prizes and giveaways, as well as free coffee.

“We just want people to come down and meet the artisans and check things out.”
