If you want to donate to the Hillcrest Golf Club's facilities improvement fundraiser there is now an added incentive: you can receive a tax receipt.

On Monday, Council approved granting the fundraiser Municipal Project Status. Because of this tax receipts for donations can now be sent out by the City.

The Club is presently fundraising for its Drop Zone Expansion and Washroom Development at an estimated cost of $400,000. The project will see the renovation of the existing club house and pro shop to expand the seating area and add washroom facilities to the building. The Club and the City are presently reviewing the license agreement in hopes of making it similar to the agreement with the Lynnbrook Golf Course to allow the Hillcrest to undertake more long term planning.

The project could be up to five years in length.

Council unanimously approved the municipal project designation with the provisions that either side could opt out with 90 days written notice.

Currently there are seven projects that have been granted municipal status.

 1. Moose Jaw Arts in Motion
2. Moose Jaw Festival of Words
3. Multiplex Builders Inc.
4. Tourism Moose Jaw
5. Burrowing Owls Interpretive Centre
6. Murals of Moose Jaw
7. Moose Jaw and District Sports Hall of Fame

Each requires the accounting of funds, receipt of funds and tax deductible receipt production all done by the Financial Services Department.
