Fire Hydrant Allowed To Run All Weekend Long

A fire hydrant at the corner of Crocus Road and Blue Sage Drive became the center of attention the past few days.

The hydrant was damaged during recent water main flushing in the area.

The City attempted to repair the hydrant on Friday but were unsuccessful. As a result the water to the area was shut off.

Residents returning home on Friday evening did not know why they had no water. And a call was placed to the City’s after hours help line.

The City turned on the water so residents would have water for the weekend. As a result the water simply poured out of the broken fire hydrant all weekend and then down the storm sewer system a MJ Independent reader told this publication.

There has been no cost estimate as to the amount of potable water was released as a result of this incident.

The City initially issued a boil water advisory for residents near Crocus Road and Blue Sage Drive.

At this time it is unknown what sort of measures the city will recommend residents take after the fire hydrant is repaired on Monday.

Given it was the weekend the City had nobody to comment on this issue.
