Another Immigration Scam Alleged - This Time Swift Current
A second Saskatchewan Newcomer and business has been charged with immigration related charges. This time in Swift Current.
Syed Taha Rizvi and 102092451 Saskatchewan Ltd. are charged with eight offences under The Foreign Worker Recruitment and Immigration Services Act, 2013(FWRISA) and The Immigration Services Act(ISA).
The alleged offences took place at the Swift Current Husky Travel Centre between September 2023 and August 2025 in Swift Current, Saskatchewan.
The accused and their company are each charged with:
Two counts of taking unfair advantage of a foreign national's trust or exploiting a foreign national's fear or lack of experience or knowledge, as prohibited by section 22(g) of FWRISA.
Two counts of charging a fee or expense to a foreign worker for employment, as prohibited by section 23(5) of FWRISA.
Two counts of taking unfair advantage of a foreign national's trust or exploiting a foreign national's fear or lack of experience or knowledge, as prohibited by section 5-1(g) of the ISA.
Two counts of charging a fee or expense to a foreign worker for employment, as prohibited by section 5-3(5) of the ISA.
The first court appearance is scheduled for Wednesday, August 19, 2026, at Provincial Court in Swift Current.
No further details nor the number of alleged victim(s) was released.
The charges come after Dihan Jeny Enterprises, operating as Guac Mexi Grill, located at 4 Hochelaga Street West plead guilty to the single charge on Tuesday.
The corporation was given a $5,000 fine plus $2,000 victim surcharge. Additionally the corporation had to pay restitution of $12,000 for the amount an employee was charged to maintain employment needed to become a Permanent Resident.
The fine and restitution came after a plea bargain that included withdrawing charges against company directors Kartikkumar Patel and Rutvik Patel.
