The Last CT-114 Tutor Jet Show With the Snowbirds

By Richard Dowson Opinion/Commentary

At the end of every season the Snowbirds, stationed at 15 Wing Moose Jaw, put on a Family and Friends show out at the Base.

On Friday, October 16, 2026 they again closed out their season with the Moose Jaw Family and Friends show.

It is the last time the Snowbirds will fly the Canadair CT-114 Tutor jet at an air show.

The ‘old girl’ is retiring. The aircraft will eventually be replaced – some time in the early 2030s. Until then the Squadron will probably be ‘stood-down’.

As for the old Tutor Jets – they’ll find their way to places for display purposes. They have certainly provided great service.

A photo is worth a thousand words – and this one is.

My old buddy Fast Eddie took this photo of “The Last Snowbird Air Show”, off his Grace Street back-deck on Friday, October 16, 2026.

I can think of nothing that summarizes life of the Snowbird’s old jet better than this photo.

Poof – a trail of smoke, and then they were gone!
