Indian Head Uses Running Game To Defeat Vanier
For Tim Klein, head coach of the Indian Head Broncs, the team’s first victory of the season could be seen as a testament of the depth and the ability to regroup on the fly.
“We lost our top tailback on the first play. So when you come on 0 and 2 you think to yourself, you know, we might be in trouble a little bit,” Klein said.
“And we had a couple kids today who stepped in and just did a fantastic job.”
It all ended in a Broncs 28 - 10 victory over the Vikings.

The running game was key to Indian Head’s victor.
“We knew we could run the ball that was kind of our forte tonight.”
“We thought about throwing more but when we came out of that second half and we continue running, and I said let’s just establish the run. So we kept on running,” Klein said.
“When we ran the ball, you could feel the momentum just shift. We scored a touchdown to make it 13 - 10 then I kinda knew we had them on the ropes.”

For the Vikings the loss hits the team hard but the team is set to regroup.
“It was a tough loss but we’ll get back in the saddle next week and get ready for Shaunavon,” Vikings head coach Luke Tkachuk said.
For the Vikings a victory over top of the Broncs would have made the Vikings extremely happy.
The Broncs have won the provincial championship twice in recent years. A Banier victory would’ve been a major accomplishment.
“It was a good battle, but we made more mistakes than they did.”
The Vikings offence was sporadic, but the defence was much stronger.

Despite the loss the team remains confident in a now tougher schedule as the regular season wraps up.
