Cyclones Football Team Named Team Of The Year

Months have gone by since the Central Cyclones football team captured the Saskatchewan High School Athletic Association’s 5A 12-A-side provincial championship.

On Saturday night the team was the recipient of the Discover Moose Jaw Team of the year award.

Presented at the Kinsmen Club of Moose Jaw’s annual Sports Celebrity Banquet the award was accepted by Cyclones head coach Colin Belsher and five other coaches.

Belsher said he had been attending the banquet for “many, many years and wondered what it would be like to be up there.”

The award tops off a big year for the team.

“As a team we had a very special year so this was like a cherry on the top,” he said.

The award “just shows the success we had as a team this year and the community support we had.”

Belsher said he would like to thank the Kinsmen and Golden West Broadcasting for the award and putting on a great night.

“We are very grateful.”
