St Agnes Successfully Defends Titles

St. Agnes successfully defend both their titles last night in the Holy Trinity Elementary Basketball Finals held at Vanier.

The 7-0-1 Spartans faced the 4-3-1 St. Michael Knights (White) in the girl’s final to get the evening started.

The big court impacted the game to begin with as scoring was tough to come by, but both teams eventually found their game and settled in.

The Knights jumped to a narrow lead early, but St. Agnes was able to fight back. In the end it was the Spartans coming away with a 29-23 victory.

The boys game featured the league’s top two teams as the Spartans (7-0) and the Our Lady of Hope Stars (5-2) took to the court, and this hard-fought game did not disappoint.

Both teams exhibited a strong defense and clutch shooting ability in the first half.

The second half was much like the first as both teams battled hard with the Stars narrowing the gap to two points.

When the final buzzer went, it was the Spartans coming away with a 42-33 victory to complete the St. Agnes sweep.

This championship is the third straight for the Spartans and during this time they have remarkably gone undefeated in league and playoff games.
