U18 AAA’s Drop Double Header
There was a lot of sliding on Saturday but unfortunately for the 18U AAA Canucks they were unable to slide into victory as they dropped both games of a doubleheader to the visiting Saskatoon Cubs on Saturday.
The Canucks would lose game one 12 - 6 and fall 19 - 9 in game two.
It was a disappointing Saturday for the Canucks as they had hoped to come up big following a pair of losses during the week.
The Cubs had a big second inning scoring six runs. A jump the Canucks could not match.
Saskatoon picked up two more runs in the third inning.
A home run in the sixth inning was responsible for three more Cubs runs.
Ronan Tonge had a big day at the plate for the Canucks batting three for three including two RBIs.
Hunter Scott had three hits for Moose Jaw.
The Canucks drew six walks in the game.
Game Two saw the Cubs jump out ahead on five runs scored with one hit in the top of the fifth inning.
The Canucks were not to be outdone as they scored eight runs on four hits in the bottom of the fifth inning to make the score 8 - 6 in Moose Jaw’s favour.
Unfortunately for the Canucks in the top of the sixth inning the Cubs would score nine runs off of two hits in the sixth inning. An error allowed to runs to score. The score was 15 - 8.
The Canucks next game is Thursday May 14 at 7 pm versus the Regina Wolfpack at Ross Wells Park.
