City Makes Changes To Transit

With ridership needs changing due to the effects of Covid - 19 the City has made some changes to Transit.

The changes include changing the hours regular routes operate, instituting a Dial A Bus system during all regular operational hours and also instituting Dial A Bus to run the for seniors and immune compromised people to access special early morning hours set aside for them by local grocery stores and pharmacies.

Landfill Remains Open This Weekend - Will Not Accept Cash

Despite many City facilities being closed or closed to the public the landfill is still in operation this weekend.

There are Covid - 19 protocols in place to protect staff and that means all landfill fees must be paid by credit or debit card only. The landfill is for the time being not accepting cash.

Health Authority Says Donated Home Sewn Cloth Masks Not Required At This Time

If you are thinking about firing up the sewing machine and making cloth masks or gowns and heading off to the local hospital to donate them the Saskatchewan Health Authority says don’t as they are not required at this time.

Other supplies are needed but the Health Authority says do NOT deliver them directly to a health care facility due to visitor restrictions a donation protocol is being developed.

Province Suspends Eviction Actions Due To Covid - 19

If you are worried about being evicted by your landlord as you cannot pay your rent because of the Covid - 19 pandemic the Province today announced they will not be holding anymore eviction hearings related to non-payment of rent because of the emergency.

It is a reversal of Tuesday's statement where the Province said they were going to allow evictions.

There is a catch though once the emergency is over the rent must be paid.

More Costs Revealed From Failed Carpere Deal

After forcing the City to come up with an unplanned $2.7 million in additional funding for the water line to the South East Industrial Park an enquiry to Administration found out the City is out over $48,000 in unrecoverable external legal fees negotiating the deal which ultimately collapsed.
