Council Hires New City Manager - No Details Released

Council approved the appointment of a new City Manager. But what terms they voted on and approved was withheld from the public.

Former acting city manager Rhonda Smysniuk is now the city manager.

At their regular Tuesday afternoon meeting Council voted unanimously to accept the minutes of the in-camera personnel committee to hire Smysniuk.

Details of her appointment are unknown. The details of that vote were not made public in the agenda.

There was no discussion at Council just a simple unanimous vote to appoint Smysniuk to the job.

The city manager’s job became available after Council fired the former city manager Maryse Carmichael in December 2025 without cause when they decided to go in a “different direction.”

Smysniuk has served as the interim city manager since Carmichael’s firing.
