What’s Happening This Weekend At The Exhibition - Cowboy Dressage

When you first hear the words Cowboy Dressage you may think the event is geared to the finer points of roping and rodeo sports. If you do, you would be wrong.

On Saturday and Sunday from 9 AM to about 3 PM there will be cowboy dressage shows and judging at the Golden Mile Arena on the Moose Jaw Exhibition Grounds - 250 Thatcher Drive East.

“Cowboy Dressage is a sport focusing on good sportsmanship and working towards a partnership and everything else with your horse,” Hayley Moats judge and level two clinician said in an interview with MJ Independent. “It’s about being kind and having a really good time.”

“It’s not rough and tumble. It’s not fast. It’s just good horsemanship. It’s a really good base for training horses and bringing them through a program to set up for anything.”

“There’s no roping but probably a really good spot for any. Those broke horses to start and it’s also nice for anyone who is nervous.”

Cowboy Dressage is for any experience level, she said.

The weekend show will have all sorts of riders at different levels.

“So they’ll be riding at what level is comfortable to them.”

Spectators are welcome and there is no admission fee. This is a FREE event.

The ever popular concession will be open throughout the event.
