Tax Arrears Continue To Grow

Tax arrears has once again grown in the first quarter with the largest amount of tax arrears attributed to the residential property class.

Property tax liens grew just over $1 million from March 30 , 2024 to March 30, 2025.

In March 30, 2024 the amount of property tax liens was $1,802,608 whereas on March 30, 2025 it was $3,854,753.

The year over year growth in the value of property tax liens was $2,052,095.

Adding the back taxes on a payment plan on March 30, 2025 of $1,090,453 to the $3,854,753 makes for $4,945,206 in total arrears.

One thing that did go down from May 30, 2024 to May 30, 2025 was arrears payment plans

On May 30, 2024 the amount of back taxes on an arrears payment plan was $2,018,837.

By March 30, 2025 the amount of back taxes on arrears payment plans shrunk to $1,090,453.

This represents a $928,384 drop between May 30,2024 versus May 30, 2025, in a year where there are climbing tax arrears.
