Show and Shine Goes Off Without A Hitch
By Robert Thomas
It may have taken a little while to get organized but once they did well over two dozen cars took part in the Peacock Show and Shine held on Thursday afternoon.
Many of the non-student participants took advantage of the opportunity to bring their show vehicle out for another year on the show car circuit.

The reason for the Show and Shine was to raise money to fix up Peacock’s race car.
The school in the past had two race cars that students would work on as part of their Industrial Arts program.

There was a wide variety of cars at the event.
The vehicles at the show included a rat rod truck, modern Corvette, Buicks from the 1950s, an antique International Harvester truck and many things in between.

“We got an original and I’ve grown up around one of these trucks so I always wanted my own,” Jayden Throssell said.
His addition to the truck have centered around installing a new radio and cassette tape. A later upgrade might include a Bluetooth radio but it not a big requirement.
“Mostly original just very slightly touch ups. But it’s mostly original,” he said about the work put into the rruck.
“It runs great,” he replied when asked about how a vehicle 35 years old was running.
The 1990 truck does not have electronic fuel ignition but rather has a carburetor, points, coil to name a few.
The truck as it sits is close to the way it was found and purchased from an older gentleman. There has been few changes to the truck’s original factory release.
“I’m very lucky (to find it as close to original condition.

Throssell is student at Peacock and has months before he is a le to acquire a driver’s license.
Despite that he has a lot of pride in his first vehicle.
Long term goals includes perhaps acquiring a set of mag wheels and upgraded tires.
