18U AAA Canucks Move To 1 - 2 At Provincials
The 18U AAA Canucks fell short against the Giants 9 - 5 in the Saskatchewan Premier Baseball League (SPBL) Provincials Friday in Saskatoon.
The loss moves the Canucks to a 1 - 2 record in round robin play.
It puts immense pressure to defeat the regular season champions the Saskatoon Diamondbacks on Saturday.
The Giants scored two runs in the top half of the first inning.
The Canucks responded with two runs of their own off of a Ryder Hicks home run to tie the game 2 - 2 at the end of the first inning.
The Giants took the lead 3 - 2 in the second inning. They moved to a 4 - 2 lead after the first half of the third inning.
Moose Jaw would move within one run 4 -3 off of a solo home run by Max Simmons.
Canucks’ starter Hunter Scott allowed eight hits and seven runs over six and two-third innings. He struck out six and walked four batters.
Giants’ starting pitcher Gage Berg gave up seven hits and five runs over four innings.
Grasen Dahl went 2 - 3 for the Canucks
The Canucks next game at the tournament is Saturday at 11:30 am versus the Saskatoon Diamondbacks.
