Lions Stop Rockets Countdown
The Lions’ game plan may have had many planks but there was one major plank the Lions wanted to enact. Shut down Assiniboia’s offensive threat.
For the Lions the game plan was to target one Rockets player and keep him from scoring.
It’s a strategy that paid off as the Lions defeated the Rockets 50 - 13.

Lions head coach Kellyn Bollinger was happy with his team’s play.
“I thought the kids played great today. This is a really good team out of Assiniboia. They’ve got their running back (Zach Thompson) who is best in. The league. We were able to go out there and he did have some success with us but we kept battling,” Bollinger said.
The defence played well.
“What I like to see is our whole defence trying to get to that tackle Of them chasing that ball and working as a group to bring him down,” he said.
Tell the manage to shut down Rockets running back Zach Thompson Bollinger described it as an entire defence effort.
“It was an effort from everyone. Defence isn’t a side of the ball you can play one guy only. Our nine guys really attacked the ball and they focused on getting him down on the ground.”
Bollinger said Thompson was who the Lions focused on as he is an exceptional running back.”
Saturday’s victory seals first place for the Lions in the U12 division. It’s something Bollinger isn’t going to ride the teams laurels on as the playoffs start in a week.
“It feels good but going forward we have to remember it means nothing.”
With practices for the playoffs to start he said the biggest thing is to get players to attend.
“Having sll our kids attend practice so we can really work on getting our offence dialed in and everyone knowing what they are doing.”
