U18 A Warriors Lose Game One
Tough night for the U18 A Warriors as they fell 8 - 3 to the Saskatoon Redwing Admirals in the best of three series to crown the provincial champion.
Playing in front of packed house at the Bert Hunt Arena the Warriors found themselves in a tough physical game.
The Warriors had their chances but they were up against a tough goaltender and a defence not afraid to make second stops.
The Warriors are the underdog in the provincial final having finished seventh in Hockey Regina’s U18 A league regular season.
In the southern playdowns the Warriors were the surprise southern Saskatchewan champion.
The Redwing Admirals took a four goal lead in the first period before the Warriors responded.
The Redwing Admirals’ Noah Bosovich opened the scoring at 18:12 assisted by William Dunbar and Mason Willick.
Saskatoon took a two goal lead on a Finley Tomaczak goal at 15:01. Assist went to Peytan Drigan.
The Redwing Admirals scored their third goal at 13:06 when Drigan scored.
Saskatoon rounded out the scoring at 1:45 when Dunbar scored assisted by Bosovich.
The Warriors first goal came at the 19:06 mark of the second period when Ethan Durrant scored. Assisted by Torsten Erickson.
Saskatoon went up by four goals less than a minute later at 18:30 when Dunbar scored. Bosovich and Wyatt Strawson assisted.
The Warriors fought back when Hayden Tuer-Nidesh scored at 18:17. Nixon Johnson assisted.
The Warriors rounded out scoring in the second period when Tuer-Nidesh scored at 6:20 assisted by Durrant.
The third period saw the Redwing Admirals put the game out of reach with three unanswered goals.
Strawson scored for Saskatoon at 16:22 assisted by Tomczak and Drigan.
Saskatoon’s Riley Buchanan scored at 11:30 assisted by Tomczak and Drigan.
The scoring was rounded out by Saskatoon’s Reid Vandenberg at 6:35 with assists going to Drigan and Tomczak.
The series now moves to Saskatoon’s Merlis Belsher Place for game two and a mini-game on Sunday afternoon.
The Warriors will have to win game two plus the mini-game if they are to be crowned the provincial U18A 2025/2026 champions.
