U15 A Mavericks Take Game One

After a 2 - 1 victory in Eston over the Western Prairie Thunderbolts on Friday evening the Moose Jaw Carpet One Mavericks are on the cusp of capturing the Saskatchewan Female Hockey League’s (SFHL) provincial crown.

The series is a repeat of last year’s provincial final when the Prairie Thunderbolts took the provincial championship.

Game Two of the best of three series goes this Sunday March 22nd at 3 pm at the Bert Hunt Arena.

Prairie Thunderbolts opened the scoring on the powerplay in the first period.

At 5:53 Mailey Pernitsky scored assisted by Jesse Cooper and Piper Johnson.

The Mavericks tied the game at 8:07 of the second period when Evelyn Stokes scored assisted by London Weisgerber.

An unassisted goal by Taya Babich with 2:10 left in the third period turned out to be the game winner.
