Steelers Come From Behind To Beat Gators
When the. Gators and Steelers met the weekend prior in Swift Current the game didn’t go in the home team’s favour.
Not by a long ways.
But the same couldn’t be said about this Saturday’s matchup as the Steelers won 30 - 28.
It was a come from behind win for the Steelers.

Swift Current’s offence had a big game.,” said Connor Duncan Swift Current U14 Steelers offensive coordinator.
“What a fantastic game,”Offensively everybody did their blocks so we could run and run and run. Credit to the wide receivers who didn’t get the ball but every time the ball was going to the outside they’re blocking. They didn’t give up on the their blocks,” Duncan said.
“That’s why the score is for us it’s all that blocking.”
Duncan was for a moment speechless when asked given the blow out so a week prior did he think it would be so close.
“Everybody just found their grit and put out. Last week kids didn’t want to be there and this week decided they wanted to be here. That’s all the difference.”
The Steelers quarterback played a wise game.
“He knows what he’s doing. He”s communicating. He is making the right calls,” Duncan said.
Swift Current Steelers’ defensive coordinator Xander Nicholson was equally as happy with Swift Current’s defensive play.
“We did our job (tonight). Bend don’t break. A few of those third downs that were closed, but our guy stood them up and drove them back and we got them,” Nicholson said.
A standout on the Steelers defence was was Grayson Hofer who played a standout game being in on many key tackles.
“He had a great game. That’s the best I’ve seen him tackle all season. I’m proud of all of these guys they did their jobs to the best they could do,” he said.
Asked about where the team is standing heading into playoffs he said “I’m very confident.”
“I’m proud of all of these kids. They’ve evolved so much. I’m very proud of them. They are playing their butts off. If we keep playing our butts off we’ll be very successful,” Nicholson said.
Despite losing the game Moose Jaw Gators head coach Jordan Taylor called the matchup a fantastic football game.
“It was a really good effort. Hats off to Swift Current they made the changes they needed to and they came here to play.”
Asked if he thought it would be close given the wide margin from last weekend Taylor said it was expected.
“I did expect them to come here and play a little bit angry and a little bit desperate. They were looking to prove something against us,” Taylor said.
He said the big difference for the Steelers was their offence.
“I think they had a few players come back that weren’t there last week. Their running game was very strong. And everybody played the ball with a lot of contact.”
The play of the Steelers’ Grayson Hofer did not go unnoticed by the Gators.
“He knew where to watch and he was all over the place.”
Taylor said despite being shorthanded the Gators O Line had a good game.
Heading towards the end of the season Coach Taylor is happy.
“I think we’re making the progress that we need. Passing game has come a long way we’re making the place that we wanna make. So I’m happy where we’re at and where we’re going.”
Jamie Lyndsay Jr taking over the quarterback role partway through the season has helped the Gators transform offensively.
Lyndsey’s arrival was not part of the Gator’s game plan but Taylor said it was a “blessing” for the Gators.
Former quarterback Jax Strossel moved to wide receiver where he’s having an impact.
“It allows him to get into some space. We can work with him in space because he’s got a lot of speed.”
