ZZ Top And Cheap Trick To Perform At Mosaic Place

“She has legs and knows how to use them” and “I want you to want me” are likely to reverberate through Mosaic Place on May 10th as the rockers from Texas best known for their long beards, trench coats and stylized ZZ or ZZ Top is set to take the stage with special guests a group best known for a a live album in Budokan - Cheap Trick.

The concert is part of ZZ Top’s Canadian tour. The band has performed before to a sold out Mosaic Place in 2014.

ZZ Top was formed in 1969 by Billy F Gibbons, Dusty Hill and Frank Beard.

The little band of Texas rockers rose to superstar status in the early 1980’s when their album Eliminator and its hit songs Legs, Gimme All Your Lovin’, Got Me Under Pressure and Sharp Dressed Man combined with flashy and masterfully produced music videos capitalized in the then growing phenomenon of music videos pioneered by MTV (Music Television) and in Canada on the CBC by Good Rockin’ Tonight which in its heyday was the number one television program in the country.

Cheap Trick was formed in 1973 and first found success in Japan.

A live album Cheap Trick At Budokan recorded in April 1978 in Tokyo originally for an exclusive Japanese audience was released worldwide and the 3:38 song I Want You To Want Me sent the group’s popularity into hyperdrive.

The album Dream Police released in 1979 and the title track of the same name had the band headlining throughout arenas worldwide.
