WDM To Hold Dessert Night Featuring Province’s Mass Transportation History
Submitted by the WDM
The Western Development Museum – Moose Jaw invites the community to step aboard a journey through time with Moving the Prairies: A Journey Through Saskatchewan’s Mass Transportation History, taking place Saturday, April 18 at 7:00 pm (doors open at 6:30 pm) for an evening of stories, nostalgia, and connection.
This engaging evening program will explore how people have moved across Saskatchewan – from the era of steam locomotives and passenger rail cars to early urban transportation like cable cars and trolley buses, through to the rise of intercity bus travel and the Saskatchewan Transportation Company (STC).
The program will also reflect on how transportation continues to shape our communities today, from city transit systems to local tourism experiences and services supporting seniors.
Guests will enjoy desserts and refreshments by High Regard Catering, along with the opportunity to explore the Museum galleries after hours.
A highlight of the evening will be the chance to step aboard the historic STC busnow on display and experience a piece of Saskatchewan’s transportation story firsthand.
Attendees are also invited to share their own memories and reflections on mass transportation, whether it’s a bus trip across the province, a daily commute, or a story passed down through generations.
Tickets are $25 per person + tax, with a 15% discount for Museum members and volunteers. Admission to the Museum is included with your ticket.
Whether you’re a history enthusiast, a former STC rider, or simply curious about how Saskatchewan has stayed connected across distance and time, this evening promises to be both informative and meaningful.
