It was put off because the lateness in the season but the City of Moose Jaw is pleased to announce the completion of the final portion of Phase Three in Cast Iron Water Main replacement is set to begin in the near future.

The Athabasca Street portion from 9th Avenue NW to 11th Avenue NW is slated to begin in the very near future.

At the present time the contractor KMS Construction is setting up temporary water services for affected properties.

Work is set to commence on the cast iron water main replacement once the temporary water lines are installed and weather conditions are suitable.

Phase Three of the Cast Iron Water Main Replacement program was announced last year and is part of the 20 year plan to replace all cast iron water mains in the city. Over the past couple of years the City has experienced a record number of breaks within the cast iron water main system as the pipe has reached its effective life span. The City was also exploring the possibility of doing the work in-house and not contracting it out.
