MJPS Update Highway 1 Collision Status

UPDATE:
After a lengthy closure, the eastbound lanes of Highway #1 east of Moose Jaw are now open to traffic.
At approximately 10:00 pm on September 23, 2024, Moose Jaw Police Service members were dispatched to a four-vehicle collision on Highway #1 between Caribou Street East and the Highway #2 junction. The collision involved three tractor-trailers and a single vehicle.
There were no major injuries as a result of the collision.
Police continue to investigate the collision, and additional information may be released once it becomes available.
Thank you to all the emergency personnel who worked through the overnight hours and into today to clean up the collision.

The Moose Jaw Police Service and emergency personnel are currently on the scene of a collision involving numerous vehicles on Highway #1 east of the city.
As a result, Highway #1 eastbound lanes are closed east of Caribou Street East.
Motorists travelling east will be rerouted through Caribou Street East and then onto the Manitoba Expressway. Westbound travellers shouldn’t be affected.The MJPS is asking motorists to avoid the area if possible.
Additionally, the MJPS is asking motorists to drive with caution and follow the appropriate signage and direction from emergency personnel.
It is unknown at this time when the eastbound lanes of Highway #1 will reopen.
