The Moose Jaw Pee Wee Mavericks are just one win away from claiming the Southern Division championship in the Saskatchewan Female Hockey League after defeating the Weyburn Canadian Tire Angels 4 - 1 on Saturday afternoon.

Playing at Crescent Point Place in Weyburn the Mavericks took the lead in the first period and never looked back.

Brooklyn Nimegeers opened the scoring in the first period.

In the second period a goal was added by Jesse Meilke assisted by Evyn Yanko.

Meilke would add a second goal assisted by Tianna Wiebe.

Weyburn would score one goal in the period to break the shut out hopes for Maverick’s goaltender Shay Camphaug with the period ending the Mavericks up 3 - 1.

In the third period the Mavericks would round out the scoring on a goal by Brooklyn Hrynkiw assisted by Ashley Breitkreuz.

With the 4 - 1 victory the Pee Wee Mavericks can wrap up the Southern Division Championship today - Sunday - on home ice.

At 11 am Sunday at the Red Knight Arena the Moose Jaw Pee Wee Mavericks will be playing game two in the best of three final for the Southern Saskatchewan Championship against the Weyburn Canadian Tire Angels in Saskatchewan Female Hockey League Action.

The team encourages everyone to attend the game and cheer on the home team - game admission is free.

Game three, if necessary, goes March 26th at 8:30 pm in Weyburn at Crescent Point Place.
