The Moose Jaw Pee Wee Mavericks have defeated the Weyburn Canadian Tire Angels 8 - 1 to capture the Sothern Saskatchewan Pee Wee Championship in Saskatchewan Female Hockey League Action.

Lead by four goals and an assist outing (five points total) by Jesse Mielke the Mavericks dominated throughout the game only to have the shutout for goaltender Schay Camphaug ruined late in the third period. The Mavericks dominated the game and the Angels, although they had some scoring opportunities, good ones were few and far between.

Mielke opened the scoring at the 12:26 mark of the first period unassisted.

The Mavericks would score what turned out to be the winning goal at the 10:55 mark of the first period when Mielke scored assisted by Brianna McKean.

The second period would see the Mavericks score five unanswered goals.

At the 9:58 mark Brooklyn Nimegeers scored assisted by Brinnagh McKean and Mielke.

Another unassisted Mavericks goal happened at the 5:06 mark when Ashley Breitkreuz scored.

The defence woiuld get in on the scoring when Brooklyn Nimegeers notched a tally just 11 seconds later at the 4:55 mark assisted by Kiana Hrechka.

With 1:55 left in the second period Mielke would score her hat trick goal assisted by Brooklyn Hrynkiw.

The second period scoring continued as Mielke would score for the fourth time assisted by Sadie Hughes and Tianna Wiebe.

Just after halfway through the third period the Mavericks Nimegeers would score while sliding by Eagles goaltender Kaitlyn McFadden to make the score 8 to 0.

The shutout for Campaug was ruined though with 2:24 left in the game as the Angels’ Lola Brady assisted by Beau Chisolm.

The Mavericks win the Southern Division Championship in two straight games after defeating the Angels 4 - 1 in game one in Weyburn on Saturday afternoon. SEE RELATED Pee Wee Mavericks take game one
