Cyclones Polish Off Colts
In what could very well be a preview of the Moose Jaw city final the Central Cyclones senior boys basketball team defeated the Swift Current Colts 100 - 53.
The Cyclones easily outshone the Colts but it was not a typical Cyclones’ victory.
It wasn’t a case of the Cyclones’ starters coming out and wracking up an impossible to beat lead but was a progressive lead growing throughout the game.
“Tonight’s game was great. Our energy and our defence dictate the game tonight. That’s what happened. It was a great job on defence with energy you know you create a lot of turnovers and create a lot of transition buckets,” Kris Temple head coach of the Central Cyclones said.
“It was a great game all around from all of our players.”
Temple said the matchup from Tuesday night could be a preview of the upcoming city league final but nothing was written in stone.
“You can’t be overconfident about everything just because we played so well today. You’ve still got to stick to your game plan and make sure you show up with energy every time,” Temple said.
He said the team will do their best not to get overconfident and take an upcoming game for granted.
“It can happen at any time. You just have to make sure as a coach you are preparing the boys to make sure they come out with energy and execute the Xs and Os,” he said.
“As long as we come out and play our game we’ll be successful.”
Temple said Swift Current is a very good team and play well so Tuesday’s victory wasn’t as easy as it appeared.
“They can start knocking down a lot of threes so anything can happen next game if we play them,” Temple said.
