Ardens Victorious Over Cyclones

The two top teams in the senior girls division of the Moose Jaw city basketball league met their last regular season matchup on Tuesday evening.

But it was about more than a basketball game. The Central Cyclones wore pink uniforms and sold pink treats for two dollars. All in an effort to raise awareness about breast cancer.

The Swift Current Ardens would go on to win the game 68 - 29 in the final game of the regular season.

“Tonight the second half was much better than the first (half),” Central Cyclones head coach Tanya MacLean said, adding “we improved throughout the game.”

MacLean typified the Ardens as a tough and polished team.

“But any night anyone is beatable but not (tonight).”

“We have to play hard from the start and play aggressive all game,” she said.

Maclean didn’t want to speculate about a championship final against the Athens but wanted to concentrate on their upcoming semi-final against the Vanier Spirits.

“Swift is a good team. I don’t think we played to our full potential for sure tonight. We’re also missing three key players on our team who didn’t play. So that will make a difference,” she said.

“But all in all they held their own. As I said we came back in the second half.”
