Premiere Prairie Classic Tips Off This Weekend

Basketball is coning back in a big way to Moose Jaw as the Spartans Basketball Club hosts their annual Premiere Prairie Classic basketball tournament Friday May 15th - Sunday May 17th.

Featuring 71 basketballl teams the tournament is a major basketball event for the city. It is estimated 710 players will compete in various divisions.

“It’s a lot of opportunity for the kids and the community,’ said tournament volunteer Rhona Johnson.

Given the number of new basketball tournaments cropping up the number of teams playing is down this year. Teams also aren’t coming from so far afield as they have in the past.

The tournament tips off Friday at 4 pm and features four games in a variety of venues. Games will be played at Peacock Colegiate, Central Collegiate, Riverviwe Collegiate, Sunningdale School and also at Palliser Heights School on Saturday onl.

Admission for the tournament is $20 for all three days or $10 for a day pass.

The passes allow spectators to come and go plus also attend other venues.
