Today we look at Tharadevi (Thara) Maharaj whose love of teaching and helping others saw her become a teacher in Apartheid South Africa, witness the violent partitioning of India, raise two children as a single mother.
After moving to Moose Jaw Thara found her South African teaching certificates not honoured so she had to attend classes here in order to teach.
She was a school teacher for a number of years in Moose Jaw.
After her retirement she spent countless volunteer hours helping others who were taking an immigrantion journey
